Virechana Ayurvedic Treatment
Virechan is an ayurvedic panchkarma procedure of medicated purgation. It is the procedure of body detoxification, By which ‘Pitta dosha’ is eliminated from body. Sharad rutu (i.e. period between September to November) is a classical period for detoxification of your body through Virechan.
Virechan can be used in the treatment of following diseases:- Hyperacidity, Some Skin Diseases, Psoriasis, Obesity, Hyperlipidemia, Paralysis, Chronic allergic disorders, Chronic indigestion, Chronic fever, Diabetes, some bleeding disorders, tumors, worm infections, Herpes, Cronic Headache, Migraine, Heart Disease, Acne, Chronic Cough, Urticaria, P.C.O.D., Gout, Intestinal Cleansing, Liver Diseases, Asitice, General Detoxification etc…
Procedure details:-
Virechan is second major Panchkarma procedure in ayurvedic system of medicine. It takes almost 15 days to accomplish. Virechan procedure can be devided in three parts.
- Pre – Procedure: – it is performed because the doshas which are supposed to be eliminated from our body are scattered throughout the body, those doshas come in grahani ( one of the part of small intestine) which is considered a headquarter (moolsthan) of pitta dosha due to this pre-procedure. Patient is also mentally and physically prepaired by this pre-procedure. It is the procedure of consuming a given amount of Ghruta in the morning ( Abhyantar Snehan) and whole body massage & Steaming in a clinic (Bahya Snehan – Swedan)
- Procedure :- it is a main procedure by which accumulated pitta dosha is eliminated from Grahani by medicated purgation.
- After – Procedure :- it is termed as Sansarjan Kram it is the procedure done for the reestablishment of the patient on normal diet. As the virechan procedure weakens the digestive power. It is a procedure of simply following a diet chart.
Lets assume we have planned virechan on Sunday 8th day of a given month.
Day 1 to day 7 is a Pre – Procedure.
Day 8th is a Procedure Vaman.
Day 8 to 11 is a After – Procedure
