It is the procedure of therapeutic enema. It is considered to be one of the most important Panchkarma Procedure because it can correct control and eliminate the Vata dosha. According to Ayurvedic belief Vata plays a major role in pathogenesis of a disease, hence Basti treatment can be used for almost all diseases. It is termed as ardhachikitsa. Varsha rutu (i.e. period between July to September) is a classical period for detoxification of your body through Basti.
Fifteen days specific type of basti done. In this Kal Basti Pattern alternately Anuvasan Basti (oil/Ghrut) and Niruha Basti (Kadha) is incorporated.

Commonly the procedure details are as follows:-
Pre-Procedure:- it includes Snehan ( Massage) & Swedan(Steam) Full Body For total 6 Days.
Procedure:- Oil, Ghrut Around 70 ml & kadha around 1000 ml quantity is incorporated through anus with a simple rubber catheter and syringe. It is totally painless procedure.
After-procedure:- No major after procedure is involved in this type of Panchkarma. Patient may have to pass stool if required.
